Selecting where to stay on my safari
First, know that we personally stay in the properties we offer so we speak from experience. Secondly, we are picky! There could be hundreds of choices, but we have narrowed the choices down to camps, lodges, and hotels we feel offer the best value, and consistently offer the best service. Some are well known, while others are real fine gems, but all offer great accommodations and gracious hospitality. We can guide you through the choices by region and budget. The good news is that you will not have made a mistake regardless of the properties selected.
Johannesburg Hotels & Cape Town Hotels will rank high against any major city property in the world
Johannesburg at the Airport: Garden Court - Intercontinental - Airport Grand Accessible from the Airport: Michelangelo - Illyria House
Cape Town: Cape Town
Wine-land properties outside Cape Town: Stellenbosch: River Manner - Franschhoek: Les Chambers
South African Game Viewing properties that we use are small with great customer service. Most feature independent chalets gathered around a main lodge, but there are a fiew noteable luxury tented camps that we recommend. Greater Kruger
East Africa accommodations tend to be luxury tented, with a few chalet types in Tanzania and Uganda. There are multi-room hotel type properties in East Africa, but we feel it takes away from the bush experience. Kenya & Serengeti
Botswana are mostly lugury tented properties with a few chalets in the mix. Botswana
Zimbabwe In the Hwange area all tented are used, while Sentinel and Amalinda are chalet type. Zimbabwe
Victoria Falls Properties run the gamet from luxury Hotels to a very luxurious tented opperation. Victoria Falls
Namibia is mostly fixed morter and stone lodges. Namibia
Uganda we use both hotels and fixed lodges
