Rovos Rail

The Most Luxurious Train In the World

Rovos rail is now the gold standard in train travel and in our estimation has surpassed the Blue Train in all categories.  Traveling on Rovos is truly a world-class experience.  The coaches are always in mint condition, and provide a true luxury experience.  Fine dining and suburb wine selections on this all inclusive train make your travel a very special experience.  The magic and romance of a bygone era of train travel is brought back to life on your scenic journey.  While this isn’t a wildlife journey per say, the journeys take you through some very scenic South African country side you would otherwise miss.  An example of their attention to detail is that Rohan Vos, the owner, personally interviews all the employee candidates prior to their hiring.

The sleeper coaches contain the most spacious train suites in the world, offering every modern convenience and comfort.  The epitome of luxury, with handsome wood paneling and period Edwardian features, the air-conditioned suites accommodate two people offering the option of twin or spacious double beds.  All are equipped with a writing surface and, for valuables, a personal safe.  There is also a bar fridge filled with beverages of the passengers’ choice and room service is available 24 hours a day.  In the en suite bathrooms original fittings combine with the modern technology of hot showers, hair dryers and shaver plugs.

Journeys:

Cape Town to Pretoria: The most popular route is between Pretoria (Johannesburg) to Cape Town.  The train has convenient schedules in both directions.  This is an ideal way to connect the two most popular gateway cities, and it sure beats an airplane ride!
Pretoria to Victoria Falls: Another grate option is taking the train from Pretoria (Johannesburg) to Victoria Falls or reverse.  Actually there are itineraries that make Cape Town to Victoria Falls work.
Annual Journeys: Golf Safari, Pretoria to Namibia, Cape Town to Dar es Salaam, call for dates and details.
