Kruger Park and the Bush Camp Experience

Kruger Park, like the word Safari, conjures up images of African Animals like lions, leopards and elephants.  On the top of most people’s bucket list when visiting Africa is pursuing a chance to photograph Africa’s “Big Five” lions, elephants, rhino, Cape buffalo, and of course leopard.  The private reserves such as Sabi Sands and Thornybush offer a better opportunity than Kruger National Park when it comes to reliable game viewing.  These reserves are adjacent and open to famed Kruger National Park.  Unlike the National Parks, you can leave the roads and track the animals right into the bush.  We have found the best way to see and photograph the animals is from open land rovers.  The expert rangers and game trackers will get you safely up close for that special photograph.

The best times for your Photo Safari are early mornings and afternoons with mid-days spent back in camp at leisure.  The Safari Animals are out and about during these times and these outings are the core of your Wildlife Safari.  Staying in the bush camps and lodges are anything but bush when it comes to comfort, amenities, and service.  There is no such thing as roughing it in any of our featured camps/lodges.  In South Africa you will find more chalets then tents, while Botswana, East Africa, and Zambia tend to have more tented camps.  Think pure luxury when it comes to tented camps, all will have in-suite bathroom facilities.

Expect the very best when it come to food and wine.  It seems like it’s always time to eat or snack on some delectable goodie.  From cooked to order breakfasts, to lavish lunch buffets, to dinners around a roaring fire in a Boma, it’s a grand dining experience.

Price Key to Kruger Area Properties:

These prices are per person for full board and in some cases include the bar (Domestic liquor, beer and wine), and is a guideline only, and final price will depend on the Dollar/Rand relationship at time of booking.  The cost differences are usually driven by the number of staff per guest, the amount of food and wine choices, and the room and camp amenities such as individual plunge pools and spa availability, etc.  They all will feature excellent game viewing.

Property Comparisons:

In order to distinguish between properties we have rated them for amenities, style, level of service, and ambiance.  This is to give you a reference of how we think they rate against the others properties listed for a particular destination.  They are all lovely properties that we have stayed in, so there is no bad or wrong choice. The more †'s we give a property, the higher it ranks against other properties for that category and is useful only for property comparisons.  This is not the same as a “Star Rating” system for properties and hotels given out by Tourism Organizations’ or Government rating services.
