Eco and Wildlife Safaris Merge on this Zimbabwe Property $$$
Sentinel Ranch is 80,000-acres devoted to wildlife but abounding in history. The property is a core wildlife area in the Zimbabwean component of the Greater Mapungubwe Transfrontier Conservation Area, sharing borders with South Africa and Botswana. The area features amazing Stone Age and Iron Age finds. Palaeontologists regularly return to work on its rich dinosaur fossil sites. One such find is a dinosaur dating back two hundred million years. There are rock shelters to explore where San Bushmen once practised their spiritual trance dances and rites of passage. Their ancient paintings are still very visible on the walls. Zimbabwe has the highest concentration of rock art in the world. Numerous San paintings of animals, and people, ritual and myth, are scattered about the various sandstone rock formations. Then, there are the caves with the ancient grain bins still intact. It teems with vast varieties of game. Elephant, buffalo, leopard, giraffe, zebra, and all the major antelope species are in residence. In addition, it's a birdwatchers paradise. At certain times of the year there are over 375 different species of birds in residence. The camp is small with only four chalets built between majestic baobabs and boulders at the foot of sandstone cliffs. It’s a warm and friendly atmosphere and daily agendas are tailor made to each client's wishes. You may come as a stranger, but you depart as a friend.
